Swala Safari Camp

One of two Sanctuary properties in the northern part of Tanzania, Swala Safari Camp is consistent with their standards across Africa. Vying with Tarangire Treetops for the accolade of “bush-chic” property of Tarangire, its location inside the park probably just gives them the edge.

Chem Chem Safari Lodge

One of a new breed of property that has opened up in the corridor that runs between Lake Manyara National Park and Tarangire National Park, Chem Chem is definitely aimed at the top end of the market and is definitely worth considering for those that have a little more time on their safari and who would like to have a bit of bush to themselves for a day or two.

Lemala Kuria Hills

A brand new addition to the safari circuit of the northern Serengeti, Lemala Kuria Hills offers a very realistic and slightly less expensive (by a short way!) alternative to the permanent camps of Sayari and Nomad Lamai.

Robert and the gorillas

Robert spent a few days with the gorillas in Rwanda and has been kind enough to share a few of his photos from the trip. Please note that these photos appear courtesy of Robert and are subject to normal copy write restrictions. Click on the photo to see the gallery in full size!!

Vamizi Island, Mozambique

Undeniably one of the top ten beach destinations in Africa…and certainly pushing for inclusion in a list for top 50 in the world, Vamizi Lodge really does have it all. Walk into the water diving down to 30 meters, a 7 km long, perfect and totally private beach, superb rooms, awesome service…what more can you ask for….oh, and it is a marine reserve!

Unguja Lodge

Right at the southern most tip of Zanzibar, Unguja is known only to a few and is a welcome retreat from the relative bustle of other beaches on the island. While not really the best beach on the island, part of the charm of heading down here is to access the superb and unspoiled diving of the reefs to the south.

The Zanzibari Hotel

One of the newer, smaller properties up on the Nungwi coastline, the Zanzibari is aimed at the lower end of the price bracket and, with good rooms, and good beach and relaxed atmosphere it is a good option for those after somewhere a bit smaller.

The Z Hotel

Located in the small fishing village of Nungwi, in the northern-most point of the island, the Z hotel has slowly carved a niche out for those looking for a great beach, good rooms and access to some evening action. As one of the main backpacker destinations there are plenty of bars to choose from. A good option for younger travelers on the whole.

The Residence

The first of a new breed of hotel on the island, The Residence is forging the way in the up market hotel category. Situated right in the very south of the island, this vast plot of land hosts 66 luxury villas, all complete with their own pool and sun deck, set in amongst stunning gardens.

The Palms

The sister property to both the Breezes and Baraza, The Palms was the first truly high end property on Zanzibar and, while it has had new competition over the years, it still offers something a little different.
