Review

Mbali Mbali Soroi Serengeti is a great choice for those looking for less of a tented camp experience, and instead, a luxurious lodge to come back to after an exciting day game viewing in the Serengeti National Park. As part of the Mbali Mbali Portfolio, and relative of its sister properties (in Tarangire, Mahale, Gombe and Katavi), Soroi Lodge definitely offers great value for money in terms of its location, accommodation, views, food and service.

Location

Mbali Mbali Soroi Serengeti is located in the western corridor of the Serengeti National Park. The lodge sits on a high plateau with endless views of the Musabi Plains. From the end of March through to June, this is a great place to be based as the wildebeest migration herds are on the move through this western corridor up towards the northern plains of the Serengeti.

Layout

The architecture, design and modern décor of the thatched chalets built on the edge of the high plateau make Mbali Mbali Soroi Serengeti e a very unique experience. The main area is a three-tiered deck which is comprised of an infinity swimming pool, an open-plan restaurant and kitchen, a library, a cosy fireplace, and comfortable lounge areas. The 25 chalet rooms are linked by timber walkways and golf-cart buggies are used to escort guests from the main area to their room.

Rooms

Mbali Mbali Soroi Serengeti has 25 spacious and beautifully designed chalets, each looking out to the vast Musabi plains. There are two room types available – a safari room and an upgraded, luxury safari room. The rooms feature large expanses of glass, spacious viewing decks, well-appointed en-suite bathrooms with a stand-alone bath, and for those more adventurous, an outside shower! The rooms are definitely the height of luxury so if you are looking for something well designed and special, Soroi is a great choice!

Activities

Game drives can either be done on shared basis (using the camps local vehicles and guides), or on a private basis using your private guide from somewhere like the Ngorongoro Crater (if you are doing a northern circuit). Hot air balloons over the Serengeti can also be booked which include a sunrise flight and a champagne breakfast in the bush on landing. In between game drives, the spacious camp allows you to bird watch and relax in the swimming pool, lounge areas and library.
